Special remarks:  Approximately 60% of blood testosterone is normally bound with high affinity to sex hormone-binding globulin SHBG; of the remainder 1-2% is bound to albumine. In total the bound fraction represents more than 95% of the total testosterone. The determination of Free Testosterone permits the estimation of the biological active hormone.
There is an alternative method available for the measurement of free Testosterone in saliva. This non-invasive sampling of saliva samples offers another advantage of salivary testing. Demeditec is offering such a testkit in ELISA format with the catalogue number DES6622.
