The malate salt form of sunitinib, not the free base, is used in the sunitinib formulation for use in humans. Sunitinib (as the malate salt) is the active ingredient in the drug sold under the trade name Sutent. This drug is a small molecule receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has been approved in at least one country for the treatment of patients having gastrointestinal stromal tumors or renal cell carcinomas. NOTE: The sunitinib malate sold by LC Laboratories is NOT Sutent®, and is NOT for human use. Storage: Store at or below -20 ºC.
