Description
A nontoxic, natural compound. One of its derivatives 1,4-GL increases detoxification of carcinogens and tumor promoters/ progressors by inhibiting beta-glucuronidase and preventing hydrolysis of their glucuronides. When it was fed during the initiation, promotion, or both phases of chemically induced rat mammary carcinogenesis it was found to reduce tumor incidence and multiplicity.
