Description: The eBio8.48 monoclonal antibody reacts with Vβ10 in mice carrying the Vβa haplotype of the TCR β chain. The majority of T cells express a TCR composed of a β chain and α chain, both of which are produced by a series of somatic DNA rearrangement events which join V, D and J segments, or in the case of TCR α, just V and J segments, to a TCR constant region. Murine TCR polymorphisms have been defined for Vβ as well as Vα genes based on RFLP analyses which has divided mouse strains into three Vβ haplotypes (Vβa, Vβb and Vβc), and at least four Vα haplotypes. While most mouse strains carry the Vβb haplotype, strains that are known to carry the Vβa haplotype include SWR, SJL, C57L, and C57BR mice.
