Description: Human Transforming Growth Factor-β2 (TGF- β2) is a member of a superfamily of disulfide-linked homodimeric proteins secreted as latent proteins and stored at the cell surface and extracellular matrix. The bioactive TGF-β2 is released from a latent complex by proteolytic processing and conformation changes. TGF-β2 regulates cell proliferation, growth, differentiation and motility as well as synthesis and deposition of the extracellular matrix. TGF-βs is also involved in embryogenesis, tissue remodeling and wound healing. TGF-β2 has 97% identity at the amino acid level. Functionally, human TGF-β2 can stimulate mouse cells.
