Description: The CD8b-255 monoclonal antibody recognizes rhesus CD8 beta. CD8 is a cell surface receptor composed of two polypeptide chains, alpha and beta, and exists as either a homodimer of two alpha chains (CD8aa) or a heterodimer consisting of one alpha and one beta chain (CD8ab). CD8 beta is expressed on alpha beta TCR-expressing thymocytes and T lymphocytes, as well as on some NK cells. CD8 binds to MHC class I and through its association with protein tyrosine kinase p56 lck plays a role in T-cell development and activation of mature T cells.
The CD8b-255 monoclonal antibody is not crossreactive to human CD8b.
