Description: The monoclonal antibody 8D12 recognizes CD147 which is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is also called EMMPRIN and basigin. CD147 has been characterized as a tumor cell collagenase stimulating molecule and has also been shown to have a role in cell adhesion. CD147 can be found in association with integrins α3β1 and α6β1 by co-immpunopreciptations. Additionally it is thought to play a role in T cell activation and thymocyte cycling. CD147 is expressed broadly on hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, especially in tumor cells.
